Montreal
Montreal has always been my home, but sketching has given me fresh perspectives on my city. I've discovered neighbourhoods, markets, buildings and corners that I never knew existed. Spend a bit of time drawing or painting in one place, and you soon get to know the neighbours, too. Everyone likes to watch someone sketching and I like talking to pretty much everyone. Working this way, out in public, has even led to meeting some interesting people, like the author who saw me drawing in the market and hired me to illustrate a children's book. Montreal is a beautiful city to draw in all seasons and I'm happy my sketchbook has given me an opportunity to rediscover it.
